Greater Philadelphia Chess League

The Greater Philadelphia Chess League (GPCL) is an open “over the board” league with participation from local players, schools and community based clubs. The GPCL meets one Sunday a month from January – May each year. Matches in the league are rated with the U.S. Chess Federation.

Location: Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School, 2600 S. Broad Street (Broad & Shunk Streets, Philadelphia, PA 19145)

Time: 2 rounds, Game/85 TD/5 each day (as traditionally scheduled) 1st round at 10 am, 2nd round at 2:00 pm.

Open to teams of 4 with an average rating under 2000.

    • Hi Betsy. Maybe. Main Line Chess Club now meets in Ardmore. Main Line Chess and Games (store with club) meets in Paoli. Tri-Bridges meets in Exton (I think). Are any of those close to you?

    • No. I stopped running this league when I left the Philadelphia area in the summer of 2017. Another director revived it later, but it has not run since the pandemic.
